A) No. You don’t have this restriction at Sure Thing Schoolies accommodation

Q) What Language do they speak in Fiji?
A) Most people in Fiji speak English very well, especially those who are linked with the tourism industry (eg. hotel staff, taxis, shop staff). Schoolies have no issues with communication in Fiji.

Q) Who goes in which room with each other?
A) Each group will get their room allocation, however, we don’t select the guest’s configurations within their group, they decide amongst themselves on arrival.

Q) What’s the food like in Fiji?
A) Enjoy the fantastic food available on the main island of Fiji! The food includes all the normal stuff you would expect (remember that Australians are one of the main visitors to Fiji!) It would include things like Pizza, Chicken, Steak, Pasta, Fish and Chips, Wedges, Seafood, Burgers, Fresh Fruit. Basically, all the things you would be used to in Australia – The only difference is that the ingredients in Fiji are of higher quality since they are all fresh and organic, and taste much better in Fiji. You can purchase food ‘by the meal’ at the hotel restaurant, or get the schoolies meals package (better overall value).

Q) Do you cater for dietary requirements such as vegan or vegetarian?
A) Yes. Let us know in advance and we will request the correct food for you.

Q) What things are there for me to do in Fiji?
A) There is heaps of action to be had in Fiji. Some free and paid activities are as follows.

Free for Schoolies at Resort: Tadra (dream) nightclub, Sunset bonfires with kava ceremony, Snorkelling equipment, Kayaking, Fijian cooking classes, Outdoor Cinema, Coconut jewellery & basket making lesson, Table Tennis, Crab races, Fish feeding, Coconut bowling, Beach volleyball/pool volleyball, Badminton, Reef walks and Intro to scuba diving lesson in the pool.

Q) When should I get my passport?
A) You don’t need a passport to make a booking, but you will need one before you travel. You get them at the Post Office. It’s a good idea not to wait too long after making a booking to start organising your passport. Try not to leave it any later than 2 months before you travel.

Q) When will you be wanting a copy of our passport?
A) We don’t require a copy of your passport, you just need to ensure that your first name and last name on the itinerary is exactly as it is on your passport

Q) Do I need a Visa?
A) No, you don’t need a visa to get into Fiji if you have an Australian Passport.

Q) Are there safes or lockers in the rooms?
A) Fiji is considered to be a very safe location, and everyone staying at the resort is part of the official and registered Schoolies group. There is no safe in the room, however, guest can leave small valuables in the safe at reception if desired.

Q) Can I plug my things in and get electricity?
A) Yes. Many visitors to Fiji are from Australia, so they cater for all our electrical products – they use the same plugs and voltage.

Q) What Time Zone is Fiji in?
A) Fiji is just 1 hour ahead of NSW and VIC during the summer season in which you will be travelling (UTC +12)

Q) Do we need immunisations?
A) Fiji is a safe place to visit in this regard, however, please consult your doctor if you have any questions.

Q) What is ATAS accreditation?
A) This is the highest level of accreditation available to Australian Travel Agents and Tour Operators. Only the best of the best have this qualification. Sure Thing Schoolies is honoured to have ATAS accreditation. Sure Thing is the only Schoolies company that is ATAS accredited – ensuring you reliability, credibility, professionalism and an absolutely awesome Schoolies week.

Q) What money do their use in Fiji?
A) The local currency in Fiji is called the Fijian Dollar. Although this varies, you can currently get $1.55 Fijian Dollars with $1 Australian. You can exchange your money whilst still in Australia or at the airport when you arrive in Fiji. If you have an ATM card, some of them work in the ATMs in Fiji and will give you the local Fijian Currency. Almost all Australian ATM cards work if they have “Cirrus” or “Maestro” written on them. The closest ATM is 10 minutes away from the resort so it’s best not to rely on this option. There are ATMs in the large cities on the mainland as well as at the airport.

Q) Are under 18s allowed to drink in Fiji?
A) In relation to drinking, it is the same limitations apply as in Australia. If you choose to drink as a young adult on Schoolies, responsible use is encouraged. There is a great Schoolies vibe at the Schoolies accommodation that can be enjoyed every evening for all Schoolies regardless of age. Staying at the Schoolies accommodation is a huge advantage for those who are under 18 as it gives you a venue to enjoy and celebrate your Schoolies week. Schoolies are generally aged 16 and 18, those who have been to Fiji in previous years have mentioned that the rules overseas are very laid back, so they chose to drink during Schoolies Week.

Q) How do we make sure we get the Schoolies wristband for Fiji?
A) When you arrive at the airport, you will be given a VIP Schoolies Fiji colour-coded wristband which you will use to get your meals as well as to access your accommodation. This should be kept on at all times, it also has important contact information on there. This is the only way to access the Schoolies parties and activities since Sure Thing Schoolies is the Official organiser of Schoolies on the mainland of Fiji.

Q) We’ve heard that Schoolies in Fiji with Sure Thing is awesome. Is it?
A) Sure Thing Schoolies has a decade of experience running Schoolies events. Get set for the best week of your life, guaranteed.

Q) How soon should we book?
A) Just like the hottest concert tickets… The schoolies hotel rooms get snapped up nice and early, the earlier you book, the better it is for you. To get things rolling, contact schoolies@surething.com.au and let them know how many people are in your group. From there, they will send you an itinerary of the best available hotel and will give you details on how you can make it yours!
