FAQ

Sure Thing Schoolies Travel has used incoming booking data to estimate this figure to now be 56,000 schoolies per year, and growing. New bookings are made daily.

It depends on your destination, your hotel and your age. Some destinations have lenient rules, some are strict. Hotels are the same. Make sure you select one that suits, and remember, a great schoolies week is based on enjoyment (not sickness or injury) – use it responsibly.

Your level of safety is determined by your behaviour, however several measures have been put in place to make it as safe as possible for you. Travel with a group of friends who you know will be there for you.

Yes. In some states students finish high school at the ages of 16 and 17, in other states it’s 17 and 18. All schoolies hotels and events listed on the Sure Thing Schoolies Website are Official Schoolies Events. This means it is open to all schoolies regardless whether they are under 18 or not. Schoolies from the age of 16 can attend.

Absolutely. This is a must to ensure you that have no problems at check-in. It will also ensure you are at a “Verified” schoolies hotel – these hotels must meet guidelines of safety, prime location, resort facilities, schoolies-friendly staff, and it also ensures that you don’t miss out on the genuine schoolies experience.

For a number of reasons, attempting to book a private house or private apartment should be avoided (unofficial bookings). This is because the owner of the house or the apartment can cancel it at any point with no notice and no reason, even on arrival. They can also increase the rate, over-charge the bond, or evict you during your trip without notice. Booking a private house for schoolies is a little like buying a fake iPhone and expecting it to work as well as the real thing. It’s best to keep your schoolies booking on track – book at an official schoolies hotel/resort since it’s set up especially for you to have a great schoolies experience.

Ensure you are at an official schoolies hotel, look for the official “Schoolies Tick of Approval” logo, this can be found when browsing on the Sure Thing Schoolies website. Location is also very important. If you want to be in the centre of the action, then book accordingly. If you want a relaxing peaceful trip, then book at a schoolies hotel that’s further away – you will find that the others staying at the hotel have also chosen it for the same reason – giving the hotel a relaxed atmosphere. Either way, it’s a huge benefit to be amongst other schoolies – you don’t want it to feel like just another holiday (there’s plenty of time for that) but you only get to do Schoolies ONCE. The last thing you want is to be at a hotel with young kids taking up the pool, and elderly people asking you to keep the noise down after 8pm. Schoolies hotels are especially set up for the correct demographic – as it is quite normal for schoolies to be up late… you’re here celebrating schoolies after all!

It depends on 3 things: Where you’re heading, What’s already included in your package, What you want to do on your schoolies trip. Food and drinks are things you can’t go without, so allow enough for these, at least. You may also need to book transport to get to your schoolies hotel. Some packages like Sure Thing Schoolies in Vanuatu have meals already included as well as flights, transport, and even the parties and activities included. For trips like that, everything is already covered before you get there, however if you’re booking a basic trip with just accommodation, then allow at least $20 a day for food and drinks. The average amount of spending money that schoolies take is $40 to $70 per day.

Yes, most schoolies destinations have schoolies parties and events. Some require a ticket or wristband to be purchased, some come with the schoolies wristband for entry into schoolies parties and events. Check whether your booking will comes with the official “Sure Thing Schoolies” Wristband.

Just like the hottest concert tickets… The schoolies hotel rooms get snapped up nice and early, the earlier you book, the better it is for you. To get things rolling, contact schoolies@surething.com.au and let them know how many people are in your group. From there, they will send you an itinerary of the best available rooms and will give you details on how you can make them yours!
