Q) What are the dates of Thailand Schoolies?

Q) Do we have the Freedom to explore and enjoy the rest of the island in Thailand?
Yes. We know you want your freedom at Schoolies rather than having to stay at the hotel for the whole week. The Sure Thing Schoolies packages give you the freedom to explore the beautiful island and experience the culture. You can go shopping, do tours and activities as you wish.

Q) Do the packages include flights to Thailand and back?
Yes, Sure Thing Schoolies Packages include your flights as well as the Schoolies transport between the airport and the resort (in both directions)

Q) Is there a Curfew?
No. You don’t have this restriction at Sure Thing Schoolies accommodation

Q) Is Alcohol allowed at the Schoolies Resort?
Alcohol is generally not permitted at most Schoolies venues

Q) What Language do they speak in Thailand?
In addition to speaking Thai, most people in Thailand speak English reasonably well, especially those who are linked with the tourism industry (eg. hotel staff, taxis, shop staff). Schoolies have no issues with communication in Thailand.

Q) Are things expensive in Thailand?
No. When you are shopping or purchasing things in Thailand you will find that the prices are generally lower than what they would be in Australia.

Q) Do you tip people in Thailand?
If you like, this is entirely optional.

Q) What kind of transport is there to get from place to place?
Everyone in Thailand uses the same form of transport which is easy and cost effective to use, it’s called the Tuk-Tuk which a similar to taxi and will get you from place to place for less than a few dollars.

Q) What’s the food like in Thailand?
The food in Koh Samui is great. In addition to the delicious local Thai food, there are plenty of places to enjoy “western food” like burgers, pizza, pasta, wedges, seafood and much more. There’s even a 24 hours McDonalds right next to the Schoolies resort if you can’t resist the temptation.

Q) Is this destination suitable for people with dietary requirements such as vegan or vegetarian?
Yes. There are so many food outlets available that you are very likely to find multiple options for your dietary requirements.

Q) When should I get my passport?
You don’t need a passport to make a booking, but it’s best to have it 2 months before travel. You can get it from any Post Office.

Q) Do I need a Visa?
No, you don’t need a visa to get into Thailand for your week of Schoolies if you have an Australian Passport.

Q) Can I plug my things in and get electricity?
Yes. The electricity supplies the same voltage output. This is quite easy. You will just need a universal adaptor to be able to plug in your electrical items. You can get these from most convenience stores, online, or at the airport when you’re departing Australia, they are usually under $20. It’s also a good idea to bring a power board in addition to the adaptor (so that you can plug in multiple items at once if necessary)

Q) What Time Zone is Thailand in?
Thailand is 2 hours behind Queensland time (UTC +7)

Q) Do we need immunisations?
Koh Samui is a relatively safe place to visit in this regard, however, precautions are wise. Please consult your doctor if you have any questions.

Q) What money do their use in Thailand?
The local currency in Thailand is called Baht. Although this varies, you can currently get 25 Thai Baht with $1 Australian. You can exchange your money in Australia or at the airport when you arrive in Thailand, however, you can also exchange money at the local money exchange shops within walking distance of the Schoolies resort. If you have an ATM card, some of them work in the ATMs in Thailand and will give you the local Thai Currency. Almost all Australian ATM cards work if they have “Cirrus” or “Maestro” written on them.

Q) We’ve heard that Schoolies at Koh Samui is awesome, is it?

Just like all good things, they book us fast. We suggest you get in early to get the best deals on the best rooms.
