Yes. We understand that you want Freedom at Schoolies rather than having to stay at the hotel for the whole week. The Sure Thing Schoolies packages give you the freedom to explore the beautiful island and experience the culture. You can go shopping, do tours and activities as you wish.

Yes, Sure Thing Schoolies Packages include your flights as well as the Schoolies transport between the airport and the resort (in both directions)

No. You don’t have this restriction at Sure Thing Schoolies accommodation

Yes. This is the Main Schoolies Event in Thailand and is the centre of the action in Thailand.

In addition to speaking Thai, most people in Thailand speak English reasonably well, especially those who are linked with the tourism industry (eg. hotel staff, taxis, shop staff). Schoolies have no issues with communication in Thailand.

No. When you are shopping or purchasing things in Thailand you will find that the prices are generally lower than what they would be in Australia.

If you like, this is entirely optional.

Enjoy the amazing food available in Koh Samui. The food includes all the normal stuff you would expect (remember that Australians are one of the main visitors to Thailand!) It would include things like Pizza, Chicken, Steak, Pasta, Fish and Chips, Wedges, Seafood, Burgers, Fresh Fruit. Basically all the things you would be used to in Australia. In addition, there is the local Thai food available, Italian food and other European food. There’s even a 24 hours McDonalds right next to the Schoolies resort if you can’t resist the temptation.

Yes. There are so many food outlets available that you are very likely to find multiple options for your dietary requirements.

You don’t need a passport to make a booking, but you will need one before you travel. You get them at the Post Office. It’s a good idea not to wait too long after making a booking to start organising your passport. Try not to leave it any later than 2 months before you travel.

No, you don’t need a visa to get into Thailandfor your week of Schoolies if you have an Australian Passport.

Yes. Activate Global Roaming. This needs to be done before you leave Australia. Generally speaking, those on post-paid mobile plans can call customer service at their Telco and activate global roaming so that it works overseas. It’s a good idea to make sure at least one person in your group has a mobile phone that will work. Alternatively, bring an unlocked mobile phone with you and get a local sim card in Thailand on arrival at the airport for around $5. The phone that you bring will need to be unlocked (not locked to an Australian network) if you intend to use it for a Thai sim card. To unlock your phone from your Australian Network contact your phone company for instructions. If parents/friends need to contact you but can’t get through via mobile, the phone number of the resort where you will be staying is (0011) 6677 96133 Ark Beach Bar & Resort, Koh Samui.

Yes. The electricity supplies the same voltage output. This is quite easy. You will just need a universal adaptor to be able to plug in your electrical items. You can get these from most convenience stores, online, or at the airport when you’re departing Australia, they are usually under $20. It’s also a good idea to bring a power board in addition to the adaptor (so that you can plug in multiple items at once if necessary)

Thailand is 2 hours behind Queensland time (UTC +7)

Koh Samui is a relatively safe place to visit in this regard, however, precautions are wise. Please consult your doctor if you have any questions.

The local currency in Thailand is called Baht. Although this varies, you can currently get 25 Thai Baht with $1 Australian. You can exchange your money whilst still in Australia or at the airport when you arrive in Thailand, however, you can also exchange money at the local money exchange shops within walking distance of the Schoolies resort. If you have an ATM card, some of them work in the ATMs in Thailand and will give you the local Thai Currency. Almost all Australian ATM cards work if they have “Cirrus” or “Maestro” written on them.

Koh Samui is a naturally vibrant place and an awesome venue for Schoolies to celebrate. Get set for the best week of your life.

Just like the hottest concert tickets… The schoolies hotel rooms get snapped up nice and early, the earlier you book, the better it is for you. To get things rolling, contact schoolies@surething.com.au and let them know how many people are in your group. From there, they will send you an itinerary of the best available hotel and will give you details on how you can make it yours!
