FAQs

Q) I hear that you can book an Official Thailand Schoolies Package for a 3-day, 4-day, 5-day, 6-day or 7-day stay on Any Dates, is this correct?
A) Yes, it is! That’s great news for Schoolies as traditionally there has been little flexibility offered to Schoolies when they book (As they have been forced to book 7-days for set dates). But when you book your Official Schoolies Package with Sure Thing Schoolies, we allow you to choose your arrival date and your departure date. This gives you the freedom and control and saves you from paying extra money unnecessarily.

You now have the option to book your Thailand Schoolies on Any Check-in Date for a 3-day, 4-day, 5-day, 6-day or 7-day stay. Just let us know your preferred dates and we will be happy to assist.

Q) What are the dates of Thailand Schoolies?
A) Week One: 28 Nov – 5 Dec 2020

Q) Do we have the Freedom to explore and enjoy the rest of the island in Thailand?
A) Yes – we understand that you want Freedom at Schoolies rather than having to stay at the hotel for the whole week. The Sure Thing Schoolies packages give you the freedom to explore the beautiful island in Thailand and experience the culture. You can go shopping, do tours and activities as you wish.

Q) Do the packages include flights to Thailand and back?
A) Yes, Sure Thing Schoolies Packages include your flights as well as the Schoolies transport between the airport and the resort (in both directions)

A) Alcohol is generally not permitted at most Schoolies venues

Q) Do you Tip people in Thailand?
A) If you like, this is entirely optional.

Q) What kind of transport is there to get from place to place?
A) Everyone in Thailand uses the same form of transport which is easy and cost-effective to use, it’s called the Tuk-Tuk which a similar to taxi and will get you from place to place for less than a few dollars.

Q) What’s the food like in Thailand?
A) Enjoy the amazing food available in Koh Samui. The food includes all the normal stuff you would expect (remember that Australians are one of the main visitors to Thailand!) It would include things like Pizza, Chicken, Steak, Pasta, Fish and Chips, Wedges, Seafood, Burgers, Fresh Fruit. Basically, all the things you would be used to in Australia.

In addition, there is the local Thai food available, Italian food and other European food. There’s even a 24 hours McDonald’s right next to the Schoolies resort if you can’t resist the temptation.

Q) Is this destination suitable for people with dietary requirements such as vegan or vegetarian?
A) Yes. There are so many food outlets available that you are very likely to find multiple options for your dietary requirements.

Q) When should I get my passport?
A) You don’t need a passport to make a booking, but you will need one before you travel. You get them at the Post Office. It’s a good idea not to wait too long after making a booking to start organising your passport. Try not to leave it any later than 2 months before you travel.

Q) Do I need a Visa?
A) No, you don’t need a visa to get into Thailand for your week of Schoolies if you have an Australian Passport.

Q) Can I plug my things in and get electricity?
A) Yes. The electricity supplies the same voltage output. This is quite easy. You will just need a universal adaptor to be able to plug in your electrical items. You can get these from most convenience stores, online, or at the airport when you’re departing Australia, they are usually under $20.

It’s also a good idea to bring a power board in addition to the adaptor (so that you can plug in multiple items at once if necessary)

You can exchange your money whilst still in Australia or at the airport when you arrive in Thailand, however, you can also exchange money at the local money exchange shops within walking distance of the Schoolies resort.

If you have an ATM card, some of them work in the ATMs in Thailand and will give you the local Thai Currency. Almost all Australian ATM cards work if they have “Cirrus” or “Maestro” written on them.

A) Just like the hottest concert tickets… The schoolies hotel rooms get snapped up nice and early, the earlier you book, the better it is for you. From there, they will send you an itinerary of the best available hotel and will give you details on how you can make it yours!

Q) Are under 18s allowed to drink in Thailand?
A) In relation to drinking, it is the same limitations apply as in Australia, however, it not enforced overseas. If you choose to drink as a young adult on Schoolies, responsible use is encouraged.

There is a great Schoolies vibe at the Schoolies accommodation that can be enjoyed every evening for all Schoolies regardless of age. Staying at the Schoolies accommodation is a huge advantage for those who are under 18 as it gives you a venue to enjoy and celebrate your Schoolies week. Schoolies are generally aged 16 and 18, those who have been to Thailand in previous years have mentioned that the rules overseas are very laid back, so they chose to drink during Schoolies Week.
